In recognition of her performance, she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Ministry/Movie and also received Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes. Tolman has also appeared in a guest spot on The Mindy Show, playing Abby Berman a romance writer. In 2015, Tolman was as a character supporting Michael Dougherty's comedy film Krampus.
